its 9:13am and my world is rocked

August 24, 2010

how often do we consider “equality with God something to be grasped”. Not in that we think, “Oh I want to be God and rule to universe”, but that we think “I want to be perfect, Have it all together, and everyone will see me and think I’m a great example”

After years of thinking this way, I’m struck to the core this morning reading Philippians  2, verses 5-11.

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”

Of all people on earth, Jesus was God, and yet when He was on the earth in human, form He still didn’t try to be equal to God. Instead, He took the place of a SERVANT. The King of the Universe took the position of a servant, and become obedient.

What kind of example does this leave for us?
